The Dallas-based wireless provider AT&T and the chip maker Intel announced that they will be looking into how to provide drones with 4G LTE technology.
This technology would likely allow it to the drones to fly higher and further away and open up new possibilities for the use of drones. No longer dependent on Wi-Fi or similar things, the drones could be used in areas ranging from deliveries to film-making.
Their research will examine whether the drones would interfere with existing structures. Intel, who has been researching drones extensively over the past years, established an “Intel Drone Zone” to test the drones on AT&T networks.
